Featuring a dynamic striped design interspersed with geometric diamonds in deep burgundy, green, orange blue and more.
This small flatweave is the perfect, highly textural accent for any bohemian or rustic space.
 
Kilims that featuring a primary layout of vertical stripes accented by two added geometric bands typically originates from Anatolian Turkish area,  the Shahsavan or Baluch nomadic tribes of Persia or Afghanistan.
While the vast majority of Middle Eastern flatweaves use horizontal stripes (as dictated by standard loom weaving), vertical stripes are a specific hallmark achieved through narrower, specialized panels or highly advanced warp-and-weft manipulation.
 
This example presents a deeply saturated, dark palette (red, navy, dark brown, green and orange). 
They utilize a highly structured layout where repeating vertical columns are explicitly divided or framed by horizontal geometric bands containing diamond lattices, "S" hooks, or sawtooth patterns.
In nomadic culture, flatweaves were utilitarian diaries woven by women. 

The layout  serves dual purposes:
1. The Vertical Stripes: Provided an illusion of length and directional flow, which helped separate spaces when used as tent dividers.
2. The 2 Geometric Bands: Acted as talismanic boundaries. The motifs woven inside these bands were explicitly meant to ward off bad luck or the "evil eye" at the edges of the living space.
Ended with fringes at both ends.

This Kilim runner further is in general good condition for its age and origin.

The piece has some areas were the weaving is a bit loose or has been restored which has been photographed.
