PRODUCT INFORMATION

The 1960s Series 7 Teak Chair (Model 3107), designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, stands as one of the most iconic and frequently copied pieces of mid-century modern furniture design.

First introduced in 1955 at the H55 exhibition in Sweden, this chair evolved throughout the 1960s into a quintessential symbol of Danish modernism.
Its defining feature is a single, continuous hourglass shell constructed from nine layers of steam-bent and pressure-moulded veneer.
Vintage teak variants from this era are highly sought after by collectors for their rich, warm patina and distinct wood grain—qualities that set them apart from modern productions.

Key Factors:
1.    The Underside Metal Plate: 1960s productions feature a metal disc plate attaching the legs to the shell, rather than the plastic covers used on later models.
It includes an embossed Fritz Hansen logo.
2.    Veneer Flexibility & Delamination: The "Achilles' heel" of vintage Series 7 chairs is delamination, where the layers of wood veneer separate at the narrow waist.
3.    Leg Condition & Glides: Original narrow, curved steel legs that flare slightly past the seat edge.
Original black plastic are present on the feet to protect your flooring.

Arne Jacobsen (1902-1971) was an influential Danish architect and designer known for his iconic furniture and architectural works.
He is considered one of the main representatives of modern Danish design and left a lasting impact on the architectural and design landscape of the 20th century.
Jacobsen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and began his career in architecture and furniture design in the 1920s.
He is best known for his products, which are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

A ubiquitous design that still grabs your attention, the best-selling Fritz Hansen Series 7 Chair, first produced in 1955 by Arne Jacobsen is one of the most enduring designs of the 20th century.

A truly timeless piece, the flowing form of the seat anticipates 1960s pop style, while the thin tubular legs nod to classic modernist industrial inspired design.
A culmination of Jacobsen's experimentation with pressure moulded, laminated furniture the swooping curves along the backrest mirror those of the seat, while a pinched, cutaway waistline on the lower back provides a graceful silhouette.
The plywood chair is finished with a beautiful teak veneer.
