The very attractive and decorative Regency faux bamboo chair, having turned supports, the splat and frieze with carvetto balls, to tapering legs to splayed ends, the whole with an unmeddled with finish to her lacquer and surviving from the first quarter of nineteenth century England.
The chair's   paintwork is black, which is beautifully worn in the right areas.
The slightly arched back has a ‘splat’ composed of  very narrow splayed and bent spindles and set between finialled uprights.

The chair has its with original caned seat.
 Raised on turned and tapered legs, joined by a turned double front stretcher, paired side  and back stretchers.

A charming piece of authentic Regency antique furniture with that slightly tired but loved feel to it.
 
The influences on Regency design and taste were legion; from Sheraton’s neoclassicism, Henry Holland’s Anglo-French taste, the Greek revival of Thomas Hope, and the Chinoiserie favoured by the Prince Regent, to an interest in the Gothic, Old English and rustic.
The Regency attitude to interior decoration often involved treating each room as a unit with individual furnishings and wall decorations in harmony of theme or colour scheme.
 
A beautiful corner chair for a landing, bathroom or bedroom.

Good original condition, solid order with a gently worn look.
Cane seat in good condition.
As a genuine antique / vintage item there is wear and use commensurate with age.
